911 Data Entry Extension Instructions

Description:

The “911 Data Entry” extension is to help a user updating information for streets after digitizing them. Also, it has additional tools for managing associated tables. Following sections will provide more information and procedures.

 

Before Using Extension:

You should have the followings loaded in the ArcView Project:

  1. Roads theme (911rds.shp)
  2. Parcels theme (Parcels.shp)
  3. Street Direction Table (strdir.dbf)
  4. Street Name Table (strname.dbf)
  5. Street Type Table (strtype.dbf)
  6. Users Table (users.dbf)

How to populate data for new digitized Road:

 

 

Note: This tool can be used also to update data for an existing road. To do so:

 

Tables Management:

This section provides maintenance information for the required tables.  These tables were not included as extension "Docs" because their values would be reset each time the extension was loaded.

1.      Users (users.dbf): This table contains the Users’ names and IDs. To update the table:

a.       Select “Update Users” menu item under the “911 Data Entry”.

b.      Update the existing information.

c.       If a new user has to be added, then from the “Edit” Menu click “Add Record”.

d.      Fill in the required information (i.e. Last_name, First_name and User_id)

e.       To save changes, click “Save Edits” from the “Table” Menu.

2.      Street Names (St_name.dbf): This table stores street names.  To update it, click “Update Street Names” from the “911 Data Entry” Menu. It will automatically extract street names from the “Parcels.shp” theme.

3.      Street Types (St_type.dbf): This table stores the street types. To update it, click the “Update Street Types” from the “911 Data Entry” and then follow proceedures similar to those for users.dbf.  This table has one field only (i.e. St_type).

4.      Street Directions (Street_dir.dbf): This table stores the street directions. To update it, click the “Update Street Directions” from the “911 Data Entry” and then follow proceedures similar to those for users.dbf. This table has one field only (i.e. Street_dir).
